Loui Mauffette touches down at Cinquième Salle in Place des Arts with his new poetic palpitations: Ô LOUP!
An invitation to the heart of a torrent of emotions and reflections from a singer-actor who just won’t stop surprising us!
Montreal, January 8, 2025 – In collaboration with La maison fauve, Place des Arts is pleased to be presenting Loui Mauffette’s most recent show, Ô LOUP!, which gathers together the poetic palpitations he’s known for. This new creation was first staged at the Lion d’Or during the Festival international de la littérature (FIL) in the fall of 2022, and returns to the Cinquième Salle at Place des Arts, from February 6 to 8, 2025.
“...the delicious, the touching, the inspiring, the hilarious Ô LOUP! from Loui Mauffette – it galvanized the audience, no matter the generation. The creator of ‘Poésie, sandwichs et autres soirs qui penchent’ delivered his best show.”
– Odile Tremblay, Le Devoir
Normally surrounded by 20 or so artists, this time he’s going with an almost solo fable. Almost solo, because he couldn’t resist the idea of appearing in the company of some of his favorite ghosts, here embodied by loyal accomplices: Maxime Denommée, Catherine De Léan, Patricia Nolin and Gilles Renaud. In the course of what he calls his “poetic palpitations,” he’ll serve up poetry with readings of texts from a wide range of backgrounds and trends. He’ll also be treating us to a few of his favorite songs as well as some old LPs waiting to be given a bit of attention, flights of the imagination, or some fresh sparkle. More than ever he comes off here as the true heir of his father, the late actor, poet and radio personality Guy Mauffette. And all of this not for nostalgia’s sake, but out of a desire to get reacquainted, to enjoy and to celebrate!

About Loui Mauffette
We have Loui Mauffette to thank for 10 years of the renowned Poésie, sandwichs et autres soirs qui penchent (2006 to 2016). He won us over with the wonderful Dans les charbons (2009), the moving Est-ce qu’on peut pleurer un tout petit peu? (2012) and, more recently, the inspiring Chansons pour filles et garçons perdus (2018-2019). A multidisciplinary artist and a graduate of the Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Montréal, Loui Mauffette was press officer at the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde (TNM) for over 30 years, but he mostly made a name for himself as the inspired creator of numerous poetic happenings.

About Place des Arts de Montréal
The purpose of Société de la Place des Arts de Montréal is to operate a company that presents the performing arts, to administer Place des Arts de Montréal and the Amphithéâtre Fernand-Lindsay in Joliette, and to establish the artistic programming at Maison symphonique for organizations other than the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. These activities are to be conducted, more specifically, so as to provide a residence for major arts organizations, to improve access to the various types of performing arts, and to promote arts and culture in Québec. The Société hosts artistic works originating in Québec or elsewhere, featuring both emerging artists and international stars, in collaboration with artistic organizations, producers, creators, and the entire cultural community.
Located in the heart of the Quartier des spectacles and the city, Place des Arts also welcomes works of art within its walls, on its Esplanade, in its exhibition hall, and projects digital works on its mosaic of screens.
